It’s summer time, and you know what that means! Time to get creative in the kitchen with your snacks. One of my favorite things is Rice Crispy Treats. However, I don’t always like to make them. I found an easy 3 ingredient with an optional 4th to make a version of these yummy treats. You can alter this recipe to your taste and use this as a base to jump off of. It’s fun, and easy to try with almost anyone.

Here are the items you will need to make this fun treat!
1 Large mixing bowl
1 pan with non stick coding, or code a pan with non stick spray.
1 microwave safe bowl, or saucepan
2 cups of Rice Crispy Cereal (or you can sub other cereals)
1/2 cup of peanut butter (you can sub almond butter)
1/4 cup of honey (you can also sub this with maple syrup instead)
*Optional: 1 Cup chocolate chips
Pour out 2 cups of your cereal into a mixing bowl and set it aside. If you use a microwave safe bowl, pour the honey and the peanut butter into that and put into the microwave. Set the timer for 30 seconds, then stir. You may have to repeat several other cycles of this until the mixture is smooth and kind of runny. Do not over cook. If you use a saucepan, use a low heat and slowly melt the two together. Again, you need to be very careful to not over do this, because it can burn easy.
Once the mixture is done, carefully and safely pour it over the cold cereal. Mix together until everything is coated. Grab your pan, and make sure you have prepped it to be non sticking. Make a thin lawyer of the mixture and spread it out as evenly as possible. After you do this, place the pan into the fridge for at least an hour. Two hours would be better. At that point, you can cut, eat and serve. If you want to add the topping of chocolate, there is one more step.
In a microwave safe bowl, put in one cup of chocolate chips. Microwave in 30 seconds increments until the chocolate becomes smooth. Make sure you take out the chocolate and mix it with a spoon after each 30 seconds that go by. When it is smooth, spread evenly over the rice crispy treats. Place back into the fridge for at least one hour. After that, you can cut, serve, and eat!
As you can tell, this is a very simple rice crispy treat. It is easy, and many people already have these ingredients in their house. If you are doing this with a child, make sure to supervise them. I hope that you like these, and if you have any variations, please share below in the comment section!
