Underdogs, I love candy and it is a terrible weakness! I try to not eat much of it, but every once in awhile, in the days that end in “Y,” I like to partake in yummy goodness. I was at my local convenience store for a drink and I took a look at the newer candy that I haven’t tried. To be truthful, I don’t branch out much when it comes to my sweet choices. However, I like both Snickers and Reese’s and I am excited to try a new item from their line. I bought king size bars, not because I was super hungry, but because it was cheaper. They had a deal running to purchase 2 king size candy bars for $3.00, which is cheaper than buying 2 candy bars at their normal prices.  Here is my review of the Hazelnut Snickers and Reese’s Crispy Crunchy Bar.

Hazelnut Snickers:

This is candy bar that is a regular Snickers bar with a twist. It has hazelnut flavor on top of the normal Snickers bar that we are all used to. I tried to find this product on the Snicker’s website to get the official description, but I couldn’t find it at all.  http://snickers.tumblr.com/The package says, “milk chocolate, peanuts, hazelnuts, caramel, and nougat.” My first reaction was that this candy is sweeter than other Snickers. I wasn’t sure at the first bite if there was actually nougat in the candy, or was it just the texture of the Snickers. The real star of this was the nutty taste. The peanuts stuck out more with the mixture of the hazelnut. However, this Snickers just didn’t taste that good to me. It was way to0 sweet and the flavors didn’t really bounce off of one another. They could have done without the nougat at all. I wasn’t sure if that is where the hazelnut flavor was, but if I had my choice, I would have mixed that flavor in with the chocolate itself. I wouldn’t purchase this candy again. Because of how sweet it was, and how the flavors didn’t work together very well, I’m giving the Hazelnut Snickers a 1.5 out 5 stars.

Reese’s Crispy Crunchy Bar:

Both, that is a mouth full to say! A tasty mouthful! I am also a big fan of Reese’s products so this was fun to try out. This was kind of an expected candy from them because they are known for chocolate covering peanut butter. The official description on their website https://www.hersheys.com/reeses/en_us/home.html describes this candy as, “peanut butter, crunchy peanut butter candy, and chopped peanuts” At first I thought it was going to be basically a Butterfinger wrapped in a Reese’s Candy and covered in peanuts. I am not a huge fan of Butterfinger candy, so I was glad to find out that is was a very crunchy peanut butter, kind of like a brittle. It is covered in chocolate and nuts. The peanut flavor was also the star of this candy. I really liked it. It wasn’t too sweet, or so crunchy that it was annoying. I would get this again, but not a king size. I would give this a 4 out of 5 stars because I thought there were too many chopped peanuts with an already crunchy middle.

While both candy bars are a member of a larger family, they both don’t necessarily belong. The Snickers bar just didn’t taste good, which is sad because I really like Snickers. I also really like hazelnut flavoring. I really was surprised by the Reese’s bar. Both must have an audience somewhere, but I would skip one next time. I suggest that you try both of them, because you may enjoy them where I didn’t. If you have, leave a comment on what you thought of these candy bars!
